Mi mar rojo | My red sea, 2013.

ENGLISH
"Carolina Muñoz (Falcón, 1966), always attentive to the dynamic of fluids and its relation with the unconscious, moves between the impossible containment of the self and the overflow of obscure drives. First, with a Kintsugi plate (2015) defectively “repaired” (and for that very reason unable to retain liquids). Then, in a photographic series entitled Mar Rojo - Red Sea (2013) where her red floored room is covered with water as in a hyperreal nightmare. On the first, the reconstructed container with an open crevice; and on the next “the room full of water” and the waterlogged legs with the purple foam of a threatening utopia. In either case water has dissipated throught the cracks or has remained dammed up in a distressful lagoon. The significance of these events where the object or the situation flow towards the paradox is not very transparent, in the same way mental imagery is neither completely discernible. There is only a vague sensation of uncertainty and loss, the presumption of an aqueous abyss, where the psyche is thrown into the gulling of a fluctuating matter."
